With over 25 years of performing and teaching, I’ve realized that the best approach to learning music is rooted in both musical excellence and, more importantly, inspiring new bass players to create music with others. In a world of A.I. and YouTube, teaching students creativity through cooperation and the true essence of the instrument in person has become more important than ever.
My speciality is teaching beginners. Intermediate students and enthusiasts of all ages are also welcome!
My curriculum is based on the following:
Understanding and developing an acquaintance with your instrument (tuning strings to pitch, note positions, etc.)
Various techniques aimed at developing effortless dexterity with the instrument at hand (both Upright and Electric basses).
Various music styles and genres tailored for the middle school and high school state honor band, as well as live gigs.
Sight reading with a focus on developing tone and feel, and the necessary dynamics ‘intensity’ in given scenarios.
Equipment preparation (amplifier settings, replacing strings, etc) and mental preparation for auditions and live performances.
